This post is a free printable Joshua 1:9 coloring page of the “Be Strong & Courageous” bible verse.
Joshua 1:9 is one of my all time favorite scriptures.
As a child, my dad would bring us together for family meetings at certain times of the year (like beginning of the year or in the fall before going back to school) to talk about our progress, future goals and to motivate us.
At some point during each meeting, he would have us read Joshua 1, the passage of the bible where God himself encouraged Joshua to embrace his new role as Israel’s leader after Moses had passed away.
God promised Joshua that he would never leave him or forsake him and told him (repeatedly) to be strong and courageous.
Joshua 1:9:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
I really really like this scripture and I find it so motivating.
Maybe because it makes it clear that God is aware of how scary it is to embark on a new journey in life. Joshua had been watching Moses lead the people of God for years and he was still scared to take over and guess what? God was totally understanding of that.
It reminds me of the quote that says “without fear, there cannot be courage“.
Secondly, this passage shows us that strength is something that we can just decide to have. It’s not magic… or genetic. We can literally just choose to take on strength.
I’m telling you- when you’re facing a new chapter or season in your life, hit up Joshua 1. It gives me a boost every time.
I bring all that up because while deciding which bible verses to make coloring pages for, choosing this one was a no-brainer for me.
Adult coloring pages are a great tool for settling ones spirit during times of anxiety and this is a marvelous bible verse to meditate on and focus on.
Before I share this printable with you, here are all my recommendations for using one of my downloadable coloring pages!
What To Know About Printing Coloring Pages
The coloring page below is an 8.5″ × 11″ PDF, which makes it easy to print at home on letter sized paper.
It’s also the perfect size to trim & frame, if you should so choose. (There are plenty of affordable frames sold in the 8×10 size).
For best results, print coloring pages on a laser printer using this 110-lb cardstock paper.
(Regular copy paper is a bit too smooth & laser printers help you to avoid smudged lines & patchy color).
Or, send the file out for professional printing at Staples, Fedex, Kinkos, etc. (May require you to convert the document to a jpeg or png).
For coloring, I recommend Prismacolor Coloring Pencils for high quality, richly saturated pigment.
Now, here’s the print!

This bible verse coloring page features colorable words, bordered by geometric designs that will look really pretty when colored. Pretty enough to frame, in my opinion.
Because of the intricate details, this coloring page is ideal for adults and older kids/teenagers.
