Need a fun game for adults, teenagers and older kids to play while traveling?
This free Road Trip Bingo Printable is a unique way to keep everyone entertained for a long time.
Two weeks ago, 14 of us landed in LAX to take a Los Angeles to San Francisco road trip up the Pacific Coast Highway.
You read that right- 14 family members total! 4 adults, 6 teenagers, 1 pre-teen, 2 toddlers and 1 baby.
As you can imagine, it was a bit of a zoo lol. But it was totally fun and I’d go again in a heartbeat.
Because this trip was intentionally designed to take it slow up Highway 1 and appreciate the coast of California, we were in the car a lot! And as you can imagine, it’s natural to get restless.
Naturally, this is where games come in. Some good ol’ bingo, anyone?
The thing about classic road trip bingo is that it is over way too quickly.
A red car… a traffic light…a person jogging….BINGO. It can’t hold the attention of an adult or teenager for long.
For one thing, everyone has the same thing on their bingo board. And another thing, the words are just too easy.
That’s why I came up with this remixed version of bingo that adults, teenagers and preteens can all play without getting bored super quickly. It can be an ongoing game that is played for several hours as you hunt for all of the unique things that you’ve written down.
Here’s how to play:
THE RULES:
This bingo game starts off with an empty bingo board.
- Each participant has to fill in each empty box (NOT the free box in the middle) with a short phrase that is made up of an adjective + noun + verb.
- Some examples are:
- “red car speeding” (instead of just “red car”)
- “young man skating”
- “tall lady wearing a hat”
- Some examples are:
Here’s an example of a bingo board getting filled in….
- At the end, everyone should have their own individual and unique bingo board.
- It’s time to start the game. Everyone should be on the lookout to find the exact matches to the phrases they wrote down.
For accountability purposes, at least one other person should confirm what you saw.
- The first person to connect bingo wins.
Feel free to have a 2nd place, 3rd place, etc
(To make it extra compelling, I offered a cash prize which, of course, got the teenagers onboard haha).
Funny thing – we had to draw our bingo boards on scrap paper and paper towels.
So when I came back, I got the idea to tell you about this fun game and design a printable that you can print off before your trip so that you don’t have to use paper towels like we did lol.
Download it below and then print.
