It’s usually for kids, but I think adults deserve to have a little fun too!

What’s the Point of a Christmas Eve Box? Aren’t Adults Too Old for That?
I believe you’re never too old to give or receive special gifts, especially at Christmas!
It’s been a long year for many of us, and these gift boxes are just a small way to spread joy to those we love.
The whole idea behind a Christmas Eve box is to relieve some of the anticipation of Christmas Day and deliver a slice of it a tad early.
Sure, it’s usually focused on the kids and for good reason. The spirit of Christmas in their little hearts and eyes is so refreshing.
But, I think we as adults can join in on this Christmas Eve box tradition without stealing their spotlight.
So think about your spouse, mom, dad, and grandparents and make it a family affair. Instead of a box for each, you could just put together one box for a couple to share (whether married or dating).
I also have some fun gift ideas for couples that would make great additions to a Christmas Box. So, be sure to check out that post!
Now, I’ll walk you through how to put together the perfect little gift basket for Christmas Eve to make the evening extra special for all.
How to DIY a Christmas Eve Box
Honestly, anything goes as long as it can fit inside some sort of box or container. Exactly which gifts you choose for your night before Christmas box all depends on who you’re giving it to.
Consider the person’s hobbies, interests, likes, and dislikes to determine which items will put a smile on their face.
Christmas Eve presents for adults really aren’t too hard to come up with, and as you’ll see, the actual process of building the box is pretty easy too.
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
+ Box, Basket, or Crate
You’ll need some sort of container to hold your items. Choose something with enough space for the different items you want to include (I’ll provide some ideas in a bit).
The goal is to fit as much as possible to make it truly exciting to open.
You can choose from different storage options, depending on the look you’re trying to achieve.
I really like the look of these personalized plaid Santa sacks.
Even moreso, these pine wood boxes literally say “Christmas Eve Box“.
You can be as creative as you want here.
+ Decorations Like Ribbons, Paint, and Christmas-Themed Accents
When it comes to decorating the box, tailor it to the recipient. For instance, if they’re a minimalist, keep it clean and simple.
If they’re a colorful personality, jazz it up.
I like to stick to things like bows, stickers, monogram lettering and pretty ribbon. You can find cheap Christmas accents all holiday season at local stores like the Dollar Tree or online at Amazon.
Matter of fact, I just saw some gold leaf ribbon that would look beautiful around a Christmas Eve box.
+ Filler Like Tissue Paper, Twine, and Confetti
Keep the gifts covered by using some filler items, such as tissue paper and confetti. You can also add colored shredded paper to the basket for decorative purposes.
And I’m a sucker for a cute printable holiday gift tag.
Although it’s optional, these extra touches go a long way in communicating your thoughtfulness.
+ The Gifts
Don’t forget the gifts. They’re the most important part of the box. Once you have the accessories and supplies for the box itself, it’s time to pack it with love.
